Jes' goal is to create fundamental change in people operations. As co-founder and DEIBA (diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and accessibility) specialist at The Rise Journey and Rise with OPHR, she helps companies design and implement strategies to build their best teams and develop sustainable organizational culture with a focus on integrating DEIBA into all foundations and processes.
As a "no BS" kind of person, Jes is focused on hands-on engagement, real world experiences, and communicating successes and struggles in personal and professional realms. Jes has 10+ years of experience in DEI, learning and development, HR strategy, recruitment and engagement roles. She has an extensive background working with startups, specifically in international tech and mental health. Her focus areas include: career development, invisible disability advocacy, combatting imposter syndrome, diversity recruitment and engagement strategies, ERG development, and women in tech.
She coined the term DEIBA™ in 2019 after recognizing DEI alone was not enough. She officially trademarked the term in September 2021. She was named to Mogul's Top 100 Leaders in DEIB in 2021 and 2022.
Jes leads research initiatives for The Rise Journey’s annual State of the Employee Resource Group Report that analyzes ERG lead compensation and budget trends in order to enable a more equitable future of work.

Chief Human Resources Officer, University of Tennessee System
Brian Dickens is the chief human resources officer for the University of Tennessee System. In this role, Dickens is responsible for planning, developing and implementing statewide initiatives that support employee engagement. Areas of administration include system recruitment, employee and organizational development, compensation, inclusion, diversity and engagement, data analytics, reporting, payroll, benefits and retirement services. The office also works to ensure compliance with federal, state and University labor standards and policies. He collaborates with UT system, campus and institute leadership, human resources officers and diversity officers. Dickens joined the UT System on Dec. 1, 2019, following a national search.
Since 2002, Dickens, through his company BD Consulting, provided management and staff development services to a variety of companies as well as executive-level coaching to Fortune 100 leaders. He previously served at Ithaca College, where he implemented a staff compensation study that resulted in an updated salary structure, new job leveling instructions and improved market-based compensation decisions. He also oversaw upgrading of human resource systems to a cloud-based management system.

Executive Counselor
Stacey is a sought-out, trusted HR advisor to senior leaders with over 30 years of experience working with both public and private sector employers, helping organizations navigate complex business transformations and successfully manage through change. With extensive experience coaching and guiding leaders to successfully execute on their strategic agendas, she operates with integrity, authenticity, and a keen sense of humor.
Prior to joining McLean & Company as an executive counselor, Stacey held senior HR leadership roles across many diverse industries, including newspaper and magazine publishing, financial services, law enforcement, and municipal government.
She brings a passion for elevating the HR function and team and has specific experience in leading and influencing HR modernization and transformation programs across businesses, positioning HR as a true strategic business partner.
Stacey holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto and is a graduate of the Advanced Leadership Program at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, Chicago.

David McLean brings over 25 years of experience as an HR and business leader to his role as executive advisor at McLean & Company, where he supports and guides HR leaders to map out their HR strategy and prioritize HR initiatives that will have a measurable impact on the business.
David brings a diverse background to McLean & Company. His HR experience encompasses leadership roles in both the public and private sector, with expertise in organizational development, change leadership, organization culture, learning & development, HRIS implementation, and HR strategy. His HR leadership experiences include holding the CHRO role for both a private and public sector organization. His industry experience spans the Transportation, Healthcare, and Higher Education sectors.
He is passionate about leadership development strategies that create organization capabilities and culture that enable organizations to win in the marketplace. With his client-focused approach and growth mindset, David has earned a reputation as a strategic thinker and a life-long learner with a deep knowledge of what it takes to build a culture in which employees will thrive. He is a recipient of the “Presidents Award for Leadership” from London Health Sciences Centre, for his work in leading culture change initiatives.
David holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western University, a postgraduate certificate in Human Resources, and a Master’s degree in leadership from the University of Guelph. He holds a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation.
